Mistral’s FDE posting keeps cyber work first while allowing other assignments
Between the October 3 and October 6 captures, Mistral retitled the same cyber posting as a Forward Deployed Engineer role. It explicitly allows assignments outside cybersecurity while keeping cyber clients the priority, and adds pre-sales calls. The earlier posting already assigned work on client-facing agents and did not require deep cyber expertise. The revised posting describes the advertised assignment scope and responsibility for technical discovery. It does not establish a new move into enterprise services.
The constraint
Does a cybersecurity title promise dedicated cyber work, or a priority within a broader customer-delivery role?
Another explanation
The revision may apply the general FDE template to existing staffing practice. It does not establish that anyone was reassigned, that cyber work declined, or that a cyber product was reorganized.
Evidence
- Mistral AI · Applied AI, Forward Deployed Engineer - CyberSecurity (Europe)
As a Forward Deployed Engineer at Mistral, you may also work on use cases outside cybersecurity, bringing the same context engineering, orchestration, and eval work to enterprise workflows in finance, manufacturing, defense, or the public sector.
Context
- Earlier retained Applied AI Engineer, CyberSecurity posting
The earlier brief already described client-facing cyber agents, deployed services, pentester collaboration and optional cyber depth. The revised brief explicitly permits non-cyber assignments while retaining cyber priority. Comparison bounds: 2026-10-03 to 2026-10-06. These are capture dates, not an exact edit date. The current URL serves the revised text. The earlier description has explicit completeness certification.
- Introducing Forge
Mistral already described enterprise customization across industries. The cyber-role revision is not evidence of new sector entry or a new enterprise-services strategy.
- Retained general FDE posting, Paris
This October 14 retained general FDE brief shares pre-sales discovery, customer feedback and cross-industry delivery duties with the revised cyber brief. Template overlap makes clarification plausible; this current comparison does not establish what the template said before October 6.
What would change this reading?
A hiring-team account of assignment allocation and pre-sales ownership, including whether the October revision changed those practices or clarified them.
For candidates
Ask how assignments are allocated, what share stays in cybersecurity, and how much time goes to pre-sales discovery versus building and operating client solutions.
